Canal meets Bath Road (A46)

6.10.00am GMT Sat 2nd Feb 2008

Work to open up the canal at Wallbridge is due later this year, but no decision has yet been taken regarding which of the schemes for the A46 canal crossing and the remodelling of the Merrywalks roundabout will be implemented.

Local businesses are worried about traffic congestion but, providing this can be minimised, the longer term boost to the local economy will be considerable. "This is once in a lifetime chance for Stroud,"says local Lib Dem Andrew Fisk, "It must not fail for a lack of vision."
