Problems in Dursley for Ambulance Response Times

Ambulance Service

Since the amalgamation of Gloucestershire Ambulance Service with those of other Counties, we appear to have had a raw deal here in Dursley. You will have read in the local Press of a serious case after which we were given re-assurance that week-end cover would be restored, but it seems little has changed.

Two recent examples: An accident at the top of Whiteway Hill. A 999 call for an ambulance at 15:35 on 7th December was responded to at 16:25 (70 minutes instead of the max. 20 minutes standard, even for non-urgent cases).

Case 2: Sat. 13th Oct. 07:45 call from Summerhayes through the "Careline" emergency button for urgent attention to a suspected heart attack. It took 40 minutes for the Paramedic to arrive (standard is 8 min.). Fortunately the patient survived.

What is wrong with The Great Western Ambulance Service ? And why does the Conservative controlled County Council fail to fight our corner?
