What Liberal Democrats will do for you.

Taxation :-Press for reform of the Council Tax system to make it fair and just for all.

Stop District Council Tax increases for the next four years.

Housing :-Ensure that 1000 of the homes to be built in the District over the next four years will be affordable.

(Approximately 50% for rent and 50% for starter homes)

Environment :-Double our recycling figures (to over 40%) in the next four years. Reduce waste tipping.

All Council services will seek to enhance our environment.

Provide grant aid for energy efficiency improvements in community buildings.

Progressively introduce a more environmentally supportive planning system.

Provide positive support by creating home zones with reduced speed limits, improved footways

and safe environments for all, particularly our children.

Law and Order :-Extend Neighbourhood Warden Scheme to cover the whole District.

Further develop partnerships with the Police, Neighbourhood Wardens, Town and Parish

Councils, and Youth Leaders to continue fighting our Anti social behaviour problems.

Regeneration :-Continue the regeneration programme already underway and, where finances allows,

enhance and accelerate implementation.

Encourage tourism in the District, which will help make our communities more vibrant, and so

encourage business opportunities and create employment.

Actively encourage and support the development of improved recreational and sports facilities

throughout the District.

Voluntary Groups :-Actively support the excellent work of our voluntary organisations with financial and
